What is Matariki?

“What is Matariki ?”

Reflecting on the past ,
Searching for hope,
Wondering about the future ,
Shining bright like a light in the night sky ,
Bring joy and happiness to family,
Connecting with the earth ,
Joining the earth with family’s ,
Love spreads in each loving heart.

“That is Matariki.”

Matariki Hiku

Matariki stars,
Shining so bright in the sky ,
Watching from above.

Do you think Awapuni school takes zero waste seriously?

Do you think Awapuni school takes zero waste seriously?

Does Awapuni school take zero waste seriously ? Of course, I strongly believe that Awapuni school , Gisborne , New Zealand DOES take zero waste seriously. And here are my strong reasons why I believe that Awapuni school does take zero waste seriously!

Firstly , room 3 from Awapuni school, wrote to the Gisborne Council about banning the plastic bags , and I strongly agree with them. Because the plastic bag is deadly to the environment and the animals that are in it , including us humans. In fact , us humans have made so much rubbish on earth, that now we are starting to realise how much damage we have done, not only to ourselves but to the environment as well. Which can lead, to making the zero waste idea more difficult to master .

Awapuni's Green team
Secondly , Of course Awapuni School has a green team! A team of a small group of kids that like to help the planet grow. Furthermore, they help the planet and that is by planting new native New Zealand trees. On the other hand , Awapuni school recycles their milk cartons continuously everyday and without a doubt that’s helping in a way … isn’t it?

Finally , It is certain that Awapuni school is trying to keep their carbon footprint small as they can be . In a way that they do this, is by reaching ways and things they can do better and help make their carbon footprint even smaller, in support of this a way that they do this is trying to use less heating in the cold seasons .
