Why Is Multiculturalism Important To Our Society?

In today's society, we are all multicultural people, we all come from different cultural backgrounds. 

Some people are the same and some people are not, but we all live as one.

I strongly believe that many different cultures can live peacefully together & build successful, social relationships. For an example… 

The workplace. 

We have multicultural people working together in orchards, factories, fast food restaurants, and clothes shops. Working together as a team, laughing and talking about their everyday lives, families and more so, where they all come from & soon to be friends. 

Together we start to learn about one another. How our cultures are different, how we were brought up and so on. This is how we become educated about the many cultures we involve ourselves with.

Another thing I agree with is respect & love… I feel that if everyone respects each other, we all can live in a good , positive & cheerful environment. The mass shooting in christ church a perfect example of  multiculturalism. The people of christ church & around Nz came together shared their love and respect to those who we lost.  Even though they were not of Maori religion Nz still stood beside the families and the people of christ church as a nation.

The most common thing that does bring us together are all the multicultural festivals. The different clothing stalls, the different food stalls, the whole atmosphere in one place makes you feel that the world is in the palm of your hand. 

I personally believe that multiculturalism is extremely important to society because it helps people around the world become more accepting of other cultures & backgrounds.

We may have many different cultures, tribes, languages, & so on… but we are ALL one race… the human race.

Does Awapuni take Zero Waste seriously?

 Do you think Awapuni school takes zero waste seriously?

Does Awapuni school take zero waste seriously ? Of course, I strongly believe that Awapuni school , Gisborne , New Zealand DOES take zero waste seriously. And here are my strong reasons why I believe that Awapuni school does take zero waste seriously!

Firstly , room 3 from Awapuni school, wrote to the Gisborne Council about banning the plastic bags , and I strongly agree with them. Because the plastic bag is deadly to the environment and the animals that are in it , including us humans. In fact , us humans have made so much rubbish on earth, that now we are starting to realize how much damage we have done, not only to ourselves but to the environment as well. Which can lead, to making the zero waste idea more difficult to master .   

Secondly , Of course Awapuni School has a green team! A team of a small group of kids that like to help the planet grow. Furthermore, they help the planet and that is by planting new native New Zealand trees. On the other hand , Awapuni school recycles their milk cartons continuously everyday and without a doubt that’s helping in a way … isn’t it?

Finally , It is certain that Awapuni school is trying to keep their carbon footprint small as they can be . In a way that they do this, is by reaching ways and things they can do better and help make their carbon footprint even smaller, in support of this a way that they do this is trying to use less heating in the cold seasons .

In some way , I believe that Awapuni school DOES take pride in making their school zero waste, and those are my strong reason why I believe that Awapuni school DOES take zero waste seriously!

Terrible Tornadoes .

Terrible Tornadoes

Did you know most tornadoes in the northern hemisphere spin counter - clockwise, and in the southern hemisphere most tornadoes spin clockwise?

How it happens :

Tornadoes mostly need warm ,moist air from gulf of mexico and the cool ,dry air from canada. When the two meet and they create instability in the atmosphere.

Parts of a Tornado:

• Spiral inflow
• Funnel cloud
• Spiral undraft and
• Cumulonimbus cloud.

Maori Connection :

The Maori god of wind and storms is named Tāwhirimātea.   

How to get through it (if at home):

Firstly, stay in a windowless room. Never enter a room with a window when a tornado is near because you’re most likely to hurt. Move under a heavy table or desk , use your hands to protect your neck at all times.  

How to get through it (if in car) :

If you’re driving around, though or even in the middle of a tornado, you should never drive faster because tornadoes can change their direction very quickly .

Other interesting facts and trivia :

Dark clouds spinning in the sky before a tornado appears, and the cloud may be green as well as grey or black.

Sometimes a loud roar from the clouds may happen ,and the roar will sound like a plane flying too close to the ground.  

Tornadoes are smaller than hurricanes.

Conclusion :

In the northern hemisphere tornadoes spin counterclockwise and in the southern hemisphere tornadoes spin clockwise . Remember to never drive faster in a tornado.
